Who we are
This website is sponsored by the Churches of Christ, Scientist, and Christian Science Societies in southeast Queensland. Our website address is: https://talksthatchangelives.org, and our contact details can be found here. This website is managed by RedJanet Web Design.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
When you fill out the form to book a seat at an event, the information you submit including name, phone number, email address, and comments are sent to the email address of the church that is sponsoring that event. This is so that they can contact you if necessary in relation to that event.
You will also receive an email asking to confirm if you would like to be added to our MailChimp mailing list. This mailing list is used to inform our subscribers about other upcoming Christian Science lectures in southeast Queensland. If you do not wish to receive these emails, simply delete the email and you will not be added to the mailing list.
If you book a seat at an event you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and phone number in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you book a seat at another event. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, you will not need to login again for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Google Analytics is installed on this site, however we only use aggregated data reports and no individual user data is collected.
MailChimp emails contain trackable links that collect data including whether emails are opened and whether links are clicked. Data about members of our mailing list is retained by MailChimp, including email addresses, first and last names, emails opened, links clicked, and the approximate location of users. More information is available on the MailChimp website here.
We use the AWStats tool to analyse non-identifying data about visits and links to this website. More information is available on the AWStats website here.
Who we share your data with
Personal information submitted when you book a seat at an event – including name, phone number, email address, and comments – are sent to the email address of the church that is sponsoring that event. This information is used to contact you in relation to that event.
Your name and email address will also be added to our MailChimp email distribution list if you click the “Yes, subscribe me to this list” link in the email that is sent to you. This list is only used to send you information about upcoming Christian Science lectures in southeast Queensland.
How long we retain your data
When you book a seat at an event, the personal information you provide is stored in your user profile. You can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except you cannot change your username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
